Yorkshire Water is working with the Trade Union Congress and trade unions to provide career support and employment to 75 young people, under the government’s Kickstart scheme.
The scheme will seek to help 16-25 year olds on universal credit secure fixed-term contracts to gain work experience. The water company said it will offer roles in various parts of its business including its customer experience team, land and property department and flooding resilience team. Yorkshire Water said it will support every Kickstarter who completes the six-month programme in seeking a long-term role either within its business, or elsewhere and guarantee a job interview for a role within the company.
Trade unions are to provide monthly sessions to help the Kickstarters in their return to work or first-time employment, and to offer career workshops.
30 of the 75 roles will begin this summer, with the rest following in the new year.
