Yorkshire Water signs cross-Border wind power purchase deal
Yorkshire Water has signed an agreement to buy electricity generated by a wind farm under construction at Strathrory near Ardross and Alness in the Scottish Highlands.
The new wind farm will consist of seven turbines, generating some 100,000 MWh a year from late 2025.
The power purchase agreement will provide about 17% of the annual power used by Yorkshire Water in its operations.
The project has been developed by Energiekontor and is being funded by Capital Dynamics. Once commissioned, Capital Dynamics and Energiekontor’s will manage its operation.
Yorkshire Water is preparing to install Solar panels are set to be installed at eight sites in its region to generate 4% of the company’s power demand.The sites are among the first phase of solar panel installations across 28 sites across Yorkshire. The sites are expecting to be generating renewable electricity in the summer of 2024 following enabling work, installation and commissioning
