Yorkshire Water selects Downing for solar project
Yorkshire Water has selected investment and asset manager, Downing, to develop, design, build and operate a portfolio of 28 solar sites with a total capacity of some 23MW across Yorkshire.
The first phase of solar deployments, worth around £25m, The solar panel arrays will supply on-site for Yorkshire Water and so contribute directly to Its 2030 net zero pledge, They will, according to the company, generate 4% of its annual power needs.
Yorkshire Water commercial programme manager, Daniel Oxley, said: “Due to changes in the treatment process at our sites over recent years, many have been left with surplus operational land which will become home to new solar panel arrays.”
