Yorkshire Water puts foot on gas for electric vehicles

Yorkshire Water is planning to install up to 1,000 electrical vehicle (EV) charging points at its sites and colleagues’ homes. The water company said it intends to switch its entire fleet of vans to electric by 2030.

Yorkshire said staff that drive an electric van for the company will be able to charge them at home, at work, and at public chargers.

The first EV charging points will be installed at Yorkshire Water’s training academy in Bradford, where staff use Renault Zoes and Nissan e-NV200s and deliver training for the company’s 4,000 employees around the region. Additional installations and upgrades are proposed for 81 sites where Yorkshire employees use the same vehicles as well as the new Nissan Townstar and the Vauxhall e-Vivaro.

Power distribution company, UK Power Network Services, will install and maintain the chargers.
