Yorkshire Water partnership installs 3D-printed concrete cable management at wastewater plant
Yorkshire Water has installed concrete electronic cabling components produced by 3D printing which, the water company has claimed, reduced carbon emissions by 40% compared to the conventional process and .
The four components have been installed at Yorkshire’s Esholt wastewater treatment works – the company’s second largest. The 2.2m diameter reinforced concrete drawpits were printed and completed in Finland and shipped to the site near Bradford.
Yorkshire Water said the project arose from a collaboration looking into how more sustainable materials can be used in its construction processes. The parties in the collaboration were Finnish technology company, Hyperion Robotics, Tarmac and Mott MacDonald Bentley.
