Yorkshire Water lifts boil notice

Yorkshire Water has lifted the boil water notice imposed on parts of North Yorkshire last week, after higher than usual levels of coliform bacteria were detected during routine testing.

Customers in around 200 postcode areas were affected, in the High Bentham, Low Bentham and Burton in Lonsdale areas.

Yorkshire Water apologised for the inconvenience and provided bottled water to affected customers. However, it said no compensation would be available for household customers, as the water supplied remained drinkable after boiling throughout the incident. Compensation will be assessed on a case-by-case basis for businesses.
