Yorkshire partnership appoints Stantec to steer sustainable water management project
Yorkshire-based public and private sector partnership, Living With Water, has awarded Stantec a contract to progress a sustainable approach to water management in Hull and the East Riding.
The project – the Blue-Green Plan – will seek to establish sustainable drainage solutions across Hull and reduce flood risk in the city and the East Riding.
Living With Water – comprising Yorkshire Water, Environment Agency, Hull City Council, and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council – said: “A key element of the project is to work with residents to understand the views and aspirations of people living in Hull and the East Riding. Economic growth and social prosperity will also be an important objective of the plan.”
Living With Water board member and chief strategy and regulations officer at Yorkshire Water, Nevil Muncaster, said the plan would produce: “an innovative way of looking at sustainable drainage.’ He added: “The focus on climate change mitigation and social value is an important element of this project and we’re looking forward to delivering benefits for communities that have been impacted by flooding in the recent past.”
