Wild Justice to pursue Planning Bill case, arguing nature concessions fall short

Nature campaigner Wild Justice has announced it plans to progress its legal challenge against the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, despite environmental concessions from the Government.

The team will seek permission from the High Court on 6 November to pursue a judicial review. Wild Justice said the Bill will weaken existing levels of environmental protection in law, despite a series of government amendments announced in July to address environmentalists’ concerns. The group said these changes do not go far enough.

The case specifically challenges deputy prime minister Angela Rayner’s claim to Parliament that the Bill will not reduce environmental protections as unlawful.
