West Country regional water resources group appoints new chair

Trevor Bishop has taken up post as the independent chair of The West Country Water Resources Group – the regional water resources planner for the south west of England, covering the South West Water, Wessex Water and Bristol Water areas.

Bishop was formerly the organisational development director for Water Resources South East, and has held a variety of senior roles across the industry including at Ofwat and the Environment Agency.

He said: “I’m both excited and honoured to take-up the role as independent chair of the West Country Water Resources Group. Regional planning provides us with a unique opportunity to think, work and act differently – enabling us to make wise investment decisions today, for the long term.

"I’m particularly looking forward to working collaboratively with stakeholders across the South West and nationally to ensure a plan which balances the needs of people, the environment and the economy in these challenging times.”

Devon and Cornwall remain in drought with a hosepipe ban in place.
