Wessex Water poised to grow its number of green apprentices

Wessex Water plans to add six new apprentices with roles that focus on reducing carbon emissions or making environmental improvements. These green apprenticeships will add to the company’s 11 existing ones.

The company has taken advice from a green apprenticeships advisory panel set up by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. The panel, Wessex said, advises how existing apprenticeships could be made greener and highlights gaps that could be filled by new green apprenticeships.

Wessex Water’s early careers manager, Becca Thurston, said: the company had seen “a significant increase in the interest of young people wanting to work with an environmentally strong company. The categorisation of green apprenticeships has allowed us to harness that passion.
