Welsh Government gives water quality a £16m boost

by Trevor Loveday

The Welsh Government has announced an extra £16m of funding for Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and the Mining Remediation Authority through its Water Quality Capital Programme.

The agencies will use the money to tackle issues for the water environment arising from river modifications and pollution.

Euros Jones, NRW’s operations manager for North West Wales, said: “Welsh Government funding allows us, through our Water Capital Programme, to ensure the right activities are implemented in the right place, which allows us to contribute to the longer-term objective of achieving the sustainable management of natural resources for the water environment and Wales’ wellbeing goals.”
