Retailer Wave and wholesaler Northumbrian Water have partnered to provide free water-saving services to 1,400 schools in the Northumbrian and Essex & Suffolk regions.
The Big Blue Eco Booster Project, which is supported by strategic delivery partner SaveMoneyCut Carbon, involves a visit to each school to:
Assess how much water the taps, toilets, urinals and showers currently use around the school.
Identify leaks or water waste (including a stop tap test to identify any supply pipe leakage).
Install quick-fix products to generate immediate savings such as tap aerators, save a flush bags and flow restrictors.
Provide a Big Blue Eco Booster pack including posters, information on where to get further support and a trophy to recognise the school for taking part.
Northumbrian Water is funding the initiative. Wave’s head of water efficiency Oli Shelley said the Big Blue Eco Booster project is “easily the largest wholesaler/retailer water efficient collaboration in the market to date”.
