Following the success of last year’s joined up national water saving campaign, Water UK has once again partnered with Waterwise to launch a 2021 Water’s Worth Saving campaign.
Running from May until September, Water’s Worth Saving will show why saving water matters, as well as offering practical everyday water-saving advice to support behaviour change. It will target “the green-fingered, DIY enthusiasts, families, and Generation Z, to those working from home and many others”. See the dedicated website
Water UK said last year water companies saw a dramatic increase in household water usage – in some cases 25% above normal – as more people stayed at home during the pandemic. “This summer a surge in ‘staycations’ is expected as restrictions ease, and with many people continuing to work from home, water usage is again likely to be higher than normal - saving water has never been more important.”
• Waterwise’s Water Saving Week will this year run 17-21 May. This year, the theme is saving water outside of the home, with daily focuses as follows:
Monday – Talk to your community about saving water. Sponsored by Triton
Tuesday – Talk to your water company about saving water. Sponsored by Wave
Wednesday – Talk to your plumber about saving water. Sponsored by WaterSafe
Thursday – Talk to your colleagues about saving water. Sponsored by Methven
Friday – Talk to your customers about saving water. Sponsored by CCW
