Water Saving Week gets underway

This week is Waterwise’s Water Saving Week. The theme this year is integrating water-saving habits into daily routines.

The daily topics are:

  • Monday 13th May: sharing is caring – Waterwise is launching an interactive push and asking supporters to download its posters, educational content and social media assets. To take part, head to the Water Saving Week Website.

  • Tuesday 14th May: household habits – Discover how everyday household habits like laundry, dishwashing and boiling the kettle impact the climate. Waterwise is teaming up with Mara from @ourlittleecosteps to share effective ways to conserve water at home.

  • Wednesday 15th May: leaky loo challenge –  Detecting a leaking toilet can be challenging, yet it can waste between 215 and 400 litres of clean drinking water every day. Waterwise is partnering with Scottish Influencer of the Year 2024, Laura Young (@lesswastelaura), who will demonstrate how to perform a simply leaky loo test and emphasise its importance for water conservation.

  • Thursday 16th May: kitchen habits – From mindful eating habits to creative uses for leftover water, small changes can have a significant impact in the kitchen. Waterwise is partnering with Charlie Gill (@LifeBeforePlastic) to provide practical tips.

  • Friday 17th of May: bathroom habits – Showers, toilets, baths and bathroom sinks consume more than two-thirds (68%) of household water. Waterwise has partnered with Devon from @ecotintedglasses to share small, simple tips for reducing water wastage in the bathroom.

Last year’s Water Saving Week campaign reached over 3.5m people, with contributors generating over 1.2k social media posts.
