Water Breakthrough Challenge receives 31 entries

Ofwat has received 31 entries to round one of its main Innovation Fund competition, the Water Breakthrough Challenge, the bidding window for which closed on 3 June.

The entries involved 21 water companies, with every bid a partnership. There were an average of eight partners per entry.

Ofwat said responding to climate change was the most represented of the five strategic themes it had identified for entries to be based around. It has invited the 23 most promising entries to progress to the next, more detailed, stage.

Winners are expected to be announced in September.
