Waste firm seeks self-supply licence to take closer control of trade effluent
by Karma Loveday
Waste and resource management specialist FCC Environment has applied for a self-supply licence.
The company would become part of Waterscan’s self-supply community, with Waterscan acting as managing agent and providing technical support. A key focus would be on closer management of trade effluent charges. FCC operates material recycling facilities, energy from waste plants and landfill sites across the UK, treating 885,000 tonnes of wastewater a year before discharging to sewer. The application said a self-supply licence would also provide the opportunity for greater water use and cost control, and give FCC a voice in the market.
