Utility Regulator seeks consistent support for vulnerable customers across sectors
Northern Ireland’s Utility Regulator is consulting on a framework to establish best practice principles and measures which energy and water suppliers and distribution network companies must implement to better identify, support and protect consumers in vulnerable circumstances.
The framework would operate through a new mandatory Code of Practice for Consumers in Vulnerable Circumstances.
The Utility Regulator said this aimed to address gaps and inconsistencies in the regulatory frameworks across regulated sectors and to ensure that the support and protections offered to consumers are “consistent, adequately promoted, and reflective of best practice exemplars seen in Great Britain and across other jurisdictions”.
The consultation closes on 31 August.
