Utility management hampered in leadership by cost crisis
by Trevor Loveday
Utilities managers are facing recruitment challenges due to energy price hikes and cost of living crisis according to findings from a survey by consultancy, Coaching Focus.
In its survey report, Forces of disruption, the consultancy found that 85% of management polled were concerned about the impact the cost-of-living crisis and rising energy prices will have on their teams. And 51% said they were already confronting issues that impair their ability to lead.
Respondents were quizzed about their ability to manage the impact of disruptive forces, such as Covid, the implications of the energy transition and the pandemic on their teams.
The report authors said the companies’ legacy structures were being “shattered” by mergers and bankruptcy.
