Totex tops £100bn and Ofwat sets out draft determination process plans
Expenditure proposed by the water industry in England and Wales for 2025-30 now tops £100bn, following company updates to their October business plans.
Ofwat has published updated data, which shows PR24 proposed total expenditure at £100,305m, a 71% increase on PR19 spending. This translates as an average combined bill rise of 32.68%.
In an information note published last week, Ofwat also confirmed details of its plans for the next stage of the determinations process. These included:
After draft determinations are issued on 12 June, companies will have until 14 August to respond. Ofwat expects companies to publish all documents on their websites at the same time they submit them to the regulator.
Ofwat will hold two Your Water Your Say sessions for the public to quiz its chair, chief executive and senior leadership team – for England on 25 June, 2-4pm and for Wales on 26 June, 2-4pm.
Ofwat also set out the data updates it requires, and the process for engagement after 12 June. This includes a process for inbound and outbound queries, and arrangements for each company to meet with Ofwat representatives to discuss the draft determination and company representations.
