The Rivers Trust hosts mass citizen science exercise, The Big River Watch
The Rivers Trust is running its mass citizen science exercise, The Big River Watch, this week.
Between 6 and 12 September, members of the public are invited to observe their local river for 15 minutes and enter the results in an app. Among the topics in focus are wildlife, pollution and wellbeing.
Results are being updated in near-real time on an interactive data dashboard. The Rivers Trust said it will use the findings to drive action to improve rivers, both on-the-ground and via campaigns and political advocacy.
The Big River Watch is part of the CaSTCo project, which is creating a national framework for improving river health data, with citizen scientists at the heart.
