Thames Water has launched its second summer internship programme for young people, taking on 20 interns to give them “experience of engineering, operational, science and technology careers in the water industry.”
Thames said its internship scheme aims to “support those from different social and economic backgrounds into the business.”
The company said it is already has ten placements under its involvement with the multi-sector 10,000 Black Interns programme. The programme plans to provide 2,000 placements across 24 industries each year for five years.
It also has interns in place who were referred to Thames by the Care Leaver Covenant which provides support for those leaving care as well as other interns referred by the Unite Foundation which provides funds for care leavers to cover accommodation costs during their university course.
