Thames Water to pay £11m compensation for business retail data errors

Thames Water will pay £11m in compensation to 13,800 business customers and water retailers for errors in the data it put into the non household retail market which led to customers being billed the wrong amount.


Ofwat has accepted the original undertakings and financial package put forward by Thames and consulted on earlier in the year. In addition to the financial package, Thames proposed a series of commitments which included strengthening its internal processes and controls relating to how it handles market data and complaints.


In light of its package, Ofwat issued a nominal penalty of £1 on Thames Water.
