Thames appoints Turner & Townsend-led trio to develop new reservoir

Thames Water has appointed Turner & Townsend Project Management, supported by Laing O’Rourke Delivery and Nichols Group, to assist with the development of new water supply schemes.

The schemes include a new reservoir near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, and a river abstraction project supported by water recycling in West London.

The Abingdon project – known as the South East Strategic Reservoir Option (SESRO) – would, according to Thames Water, secure future water supplies for around 15m Thames Water, Southern Water and Affinity Water customers. The Teddington Direct River Abstraction project is designed to protect London’s water supply during drought.

Head of procurement and supply chain at Thames Water, Mohit Farmah, said: “The programme partner framework provides us with access to an expansive supply of programme management and controls professionals, who have a track-record of delivering major infrastructure projects and programmes.
