Thames Water appoints interim operations director as incumbent changes role

Jim Bentley will rejoin Thames Water as interim operations director for Thames Valley and the Home Counties, as Steve Spencer takes up a new role supporting the company’s PR24 business plan.

Spencer has stepped away from the operations director role which he has held since 2019 for health and personal reasons. Chief executive, Sarah Bentley, praised Spencer's leadership through Brexit, Covid and the cost of living crisis, and welcomed his ongoing insight. She said: “His deep industry knowledge and his ten years of Thames Water experience will be used to support the design of our PR24 draft determination.”

Jim Bentley (pictured) joins from Australia where he held the position of chief executive at New South Wales (NSW) Water Sector on behalf of the government of NSW, a role he held since 2019. He also previously worked at Thames in senior positions between 1992 and 2004.
