Thames Water customers struggling with the cost of living could see their bills as much as halved after the company enhanced its social tariff, WaterHelp, in light of the cost of living crisis.
After a successful year-long pilot with the Consumer Council for Water, Thames is offering 50% discounts off annual bills to customers whose water costs more than 5% of their net income while taking into account number of individuals per household. This tariff applies for metered and non-metered customers and will help in particular larger and younger families.
Director of financial customer care at Thames Water, Nina White, said: “We know the cost-of-living is taking its toll on families, which is why we’ve enhanced our WaterHelp tariff to help even more people. The changes will support customers with larger households, and provide grants to families who have bills outstripping the money coming in.”
