South East Water has now restored all water supplies after what the company called an “unprecedented” number of power failures across its network in the wake of storms Eunice and Franklin.
Thousands of customers in locations across the south east were left without power or water, some for days, following the extreme weather which battered electricity networks. At the peak, South East Water said more than 100 of its water pumps and treatment works were off power supply.
Meanwhile Southern Water reported power was lost to 330 of its water and wastewater sites, and that it used 35 mobile generators to restore supplies. It said only 400 customers lost water despite the extreme conditions.
Both companies distributed emergency water supplies to affected customers.
