Suez joins forces with telecoms provider in smart metering duet

Environmental services giant, Suez, has unveiled an alliance with telecoms infrastructure firm, Magdalene to provide smart water metering solutions in the UK.


The alliance is established under a framework agreement that paves the way for Suez and Magdalene to provide a best-in-class partnership by teaming up the most qualified experts in their fields to supply end-to-end smart metering solution for UK water utilities.

Suez said it has has more than 15 years’ experience and more than five million smart water meters installed across Europe. It said its metering system covers network planning, hardware (transmitters and concentrators), technical assistance of local teams for installation, communication network supervision, end-user support, data processing and integration with customer billing systems. Under the terms of the agreement, Magdalene will provide Suez with site acquisition, design and build services to guarantee network delivery, as well as joint marketing and sales channel support.

Suez said Magdalene is a leader in the UK for telecommunication infrastructure, and has “intimate knowledge of the UK utility sector as a tier 1 services provider, offering multi-vendor network management services to clients such as Northern Ireland Water and SP Energy Networks”. Magdalene is a part of M Group Services, the parent company of infrastructure service providers operating in UK water, energy, telecom and transport sectors including Morrison Energy Services, Morrison Water Services and Morrison Data Services.
