Welsh Water has told residents in parts of Rhondda Cynon Taf to continue boiling their drinking water for a second week.
The first boil notice was issued on 24 November following flooding at the Tynywaun Water Treatment Works near Treherbert, caused by Storm Bert. The precautionary notice initially ran until 1 December, but has now been extended until 8 December, with ongoing wet weather hampering round-the-clock recovery efforts.
Bottled water is being distributed and is available for collection. Affected residents will receive an extra £100, on top of the original £150 payment.
Businesses will be paid a further £200 following the original £300 compensation. In addition, eligible affected companies will also be able to apply for up to £2,500 to compensate for certain costs or loss of gross profit.
