Southern Water has published and sent its Final Draft Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) to the secretary of state for approval.

The plan, which has been long in the making and already subject to revision, covers how Southern intends to maintain water supplies in the face of over 2.5bn extra litres of water a day being needed in the South East by 2050, driven by abstraction reductions, climate change and population growth. It covers leakage reduction, improving water efficiency and developing new water sources through water recycling, reservoirs, and transfers.

Southern hopes to finalise the plan in Autumn. Details at: https://www.southernwater.co.uk/about-us/our-plans/water-resources-management-plan/
