Southern Water appoints professional services partners

by Trevor Loveday

Southern Water has appointed seven companies to “transform" its professional services provision ahead of the PR24 period.

The water company has awarded contracts to AECOM, Arup, KPMG, Mott MacDonald, Stantec, Turner & Townsend, and WSP/Binnies for its professional services framework. Its capital delivery and network services frameworks remain to be decided.

This professional services framework covers Southern Water’s technical advisory services requirements in support of building and engineering projects in its £7.8bn business plan for 2025-30.

The framework runs for an initial five years with the option to extend by three years. It comprises three lots: asset management support services, programme and project management support services, and technical and engineering support services.

Southern Water’s head of procurement, Stephen Coleman, highlighted components of the framework's coverage with “new nature-based solutions to improve water quality, reduce storm overflows and boost biodiversity,” as well as “spearheading best practices in hydraulic modelling, water recycling and digital innovation projects.”
