Southern Water has appointed nine companies across a strategic framework of thirteen new contracts worth £138m a year to boost its wastewater removal performance and operational resilience.
The framework includes wastewater reactive and planned tankering; grit and screening recycling; general Waste disposal; specialist waste disposal; and cake management and spreading.
The four-year contracts start in 2025 with an option to extend for an additional four years, taking the potential spend with these suppliers to about £1.09bn.
The contract awards are:
planned and reactive tankering and waste services for
Hampshire and the Isle of Wight – Lanes Group,
Sussex – Lanes Group, and
Kent – MTS Cleansing Services;
secondary reactive and planned tankering - MTS Cleansing Services, Lanes Group, Cappagh Browne Utilities, BioMarsh Environmental, and FGS Organics;
specialist waste – Envirovue (Asprey St John & Company);
general waste – Biffa Waste Services;
planned intersite cake – Countrystyle Recycling;
biosolids – Austin Contract Services; and
grits / screenings – MTS Cleansing Services.
