Southern Water is consulting for six weeks on plans to build a water recycling scheme in the Isle of Wight.
Some of the water discharged from the Sandown Wastewater Treatment Works would be advance treated before being pumped into the River Yar and then abstracted and treated at the Sandown Water Supply Works.
Currently, around one-third of the Isle of Wight’s water supply comes from the River Test in Hampshire, where abstraction needs to be urgently reduced.
