South West Water has lifted the boil notice for some of the customers that have continued to be affected by the cryptosporidium incident near Brixham.

Last week (26 June), the company said properties in the Kingswear, Noss Marina, Hillhead Park and Raddicombe supply zones could resume normal usage. The boil notice remains in place for customers in the Summercombe, Chestnut Drive, Higher Brixham, Southdown, Upton Manor and St Mary's supply areas, as these are on a different part of the network.

Incident director David Harris emphasised that hundreds of staff had been involved in the incident response over recent weeks and that “Our extreme efforts have worked – testing by independent experts along with our scientists confirmed the effectiveness of our interventions. Compared to similar incidents globally, where resolutions took significantly longer, our intensive work has allowed us to lift the boil water notices within weeks.”
