South West Water customers to lose £50 bill help from Government

The Government is to withdraw its £50 annual water bill contribution for South West Water customers from 1 April 2025.

In a Parliamentary statement, water minister Emma Hardy linked the move to the £22m black hole in the public finances, and said South West Water bills will no longer be significantly higher than those in other regions in 2025-30.

Since 2013, every South West Water customer has received a £50 taxpayer-funded contribution to their annual water and wastewater costs, because they faced high bills due to beach clean-up investment.
