South East Water is to undertake drinking water quality testing for Southern Water from 1 July.
The company will recruit 30 new staff and expand its Farnborough lab to cope with the dramatic increase in the number of commercial water quality tests to be carried out. The current 500,000 tests per year undertaken for South East will swell by 800,000 to 1.3m under the deal.
South East Water’s laboratory first opened its doors over 30 years ago, with the current site operational from 2015. It supports a wide range of businesses, including other water companies, blue chip firms, environmental health organisations, private water suppliers and building maintenance companies.
