SES Water wins water theft case and donates fines to charity
SES Water has donated fines it received after a business customer was found guilty of stealing water to a local mental health charity.
SES Water has donated the money to the Wallington Community Wellbeing Charity “so the local people affected by the offence will enjoy some benefit, at a time when a focus on mental health is so important.”
SES Water prosecuted the firm, Leeds-based Lanes for Drains, for illegally taking water from a fire hydrant through the unauthorised use of a standpipe in Wallington, Surrey earlier this year.. The company pleaded guilty to the offence and was ordered to pay £9,300 in fines and legal costs by Croydon Magistrates’ Court.
