SES Water secures second Biodiversity Benchmark award
The Wildlife Trust has awarded SES Water with a second Biodiversity Benchmark accreditation.
The latest award was for the Fetcham Springs water supply site in Surrey. It joined the Elmer Treatment Works, which gained the benchmark in January 2021.
Fetcham Springs covers more than 5 hectares and features five significant habitats: semi-improved grassland, standing water and vegetation, running water, semi-natural woodland and dense scrub, as well as scattered trees – all of which were found to be supporting species including invertebrates, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians.
SES said its biodiversity work continues across all company sites, with the aim of gaining the Benchmark certification for the Bough Beech Treatment Works in Kent by 2025.
