SES Water retains industry’s only Wildlife Trust biodiversity accreditation for second year

SES Water has retained The Wildlife Trusts’ Biodiversity Benchmark for enhancing and protecting the biodiversity at its Elmer Water Treatment Works in Leatherhead
Following the annual inspection of the site, The Wildlife Trusts’ assessor was satisfied SES Water continued to meet all the requirements and renewed the award for a second year. SES remains the only water company to hold the accreditation.
The Elmer site covers approximately 10.7 hectares and features six significant habitats including grassland, semi-natural woodland, species-rich hedgerows and dense scrub – all of which were found to be supporting species such as butterflies, dormice, badgers, lizards and slow worms.
SES Water said biodiversity work continues across its sites. It aims to gain the benchmark certification for its Bough Beech Reservoir in Kent and Fetcham Springs in Surrey within the next three years.
