Sector lacks focus on resilience and protecting nature, survey finds
The UK water sector should give more focus to delivering resilient infrastructure systems and protecting and enhancing natural systems, according to findings from a water sector survey about the UK 2050 Water Innovation Strategy.
Innovation centre, Spring, the water innovation centre of excellence, launched the sector-wide survey in July 2023. The aim was to seek views to inform the future direction of the Water Innovation Strategy, which was published in 2020 by all UK water and wastewater companies and contains seven key themes.
The survey in July 2023 of 109 participants collected views on the effectiveness and relevance of the seven key themes in the strategy. Half the respondents recommended greater focus on both “delivering resilient infrastructure systems”, and “protecting and enhancing natural systems”.
All responses will be set out in an insert to the main strategy document, which will be redistributed to stakeholders and available to view on the Spring website - www.spring-innovation.co.uk/
