Scottish Water tops water sector corporate reputation ranking

Scottish Water was named Britain’s Most Admired water utility, in the annual survey of corporate reputation of the same name, run by Echo Research and the London Stock Exchange. 

The water sector ranking was: 

1. Scottish Water

2. Northumbrian Water

3. Anglian Water

4. Severn Trent

5. Yorkshire Water

6. United Utilities

7. Welsh Water

8. Pennon Group

9. Southern Water

10. Thames Water 

(Wessex Water and the water-only companies do not appear to have been included in the study). 

In the study, participants (senior company representatives and expert commentators) rank ten companies in 28 sectors against 13 criteria, on a scale of 0-10. The water scores are shown in the table above.

Octopus Energy was the most admired overall winner in 2025, and Tufan Erginbilgic of Rolls-Royce the most admired leader.
