Scots' water won’t be flowing south any day soon

A Freedom of Information request to the Scottish Government about water exports across the Border triggered a negative response.

Scotland said had no plans to help English water companies facing supply problems in water stress areas.

The administration insisted “there are no current plans to export water to England or internationally.”

It pointed out that “previous analysis suggests the sale or transfer of water from Scotland to England – most likely by bulk shipping raw water or via pipelines - would not be economically viable at this time.” However the government said it would keep the issue “ under review”.
