RSK alerts prime minister on "need for company adoption of household pipes and universal metering"

In a statement, RSK strategic business development director, Mark Smith, alerted the newly appointed prime minister, Liz Truss of the country’s need to prioritise the reduction of customer-side water leakage and called for government support to “mobilise and incentivise the population” to help reduce it.
Smith, said “Up to 50% of all leaks occur on the customer side of the pipe,” adding: “First, all properties should have a water meter fitted. Secondly, and vitally for real change, all pipes in every household should be adopted by the water companies right up to the tap.
“Transforming household infrastructure into a water company asset would create a greater reason for the water company to maintain and improve it.”
