The Strategic Panel has reported a strong first year of delivery of its Roadmap to a flourishing market. This identified 31 conditions which need to be met for the market to deliver greater customer benefits and begin to flourish, and set out 34 actions to deliver these conditions.
The first annual review showed that six actions had been delivered – with the update to the Customer Protection Code of Practice and the launch of BR-MeX in April playing important roles – and a further 23 actions are on schedule. While five are flagged as at risk of not being completed on time (amber), none are red (off schedule).
Commenting on the report, Trisha McAuley OBE, chair of the Strategic Panel, said: “The report highlights that good progress is being made in a number of areas but also where more work is needed. The Panel looks forward to continuing working closely with stakeholders to deliver the Roadmap actions to the collectively agreed deadlines. In doing this we can ensure the market remains on a pathway to deliver greater benefits for all customers.”
The Panel said it had a watching brief on any changes to the Roadmap that would be necessitated by Defra’s implementation of the Cunliffe Commission report. But it noted the Commission’s market recommendations were broadly aligned with the Roadmap actions anyway.
