Refill stations in Birmingham beat back plastic bottles during Commonwealth Games

Water bottle refill stations installed in and around Birmingham for the duration of the Commonwealth Games have reduced the number of single-use plastic bottles used in the region by more than 430,000 in the first week of the 11-day event according to partner in the refill scheme, Severn Trent Water.

The water firm and water refill station provider, MIW, installed 216 “eye-catching” refill stations at 15 sites near the games’ venues with refill counters on each station.
