Portsmouth Water secures planning permission for Havant Thicket from Havant Council

Havant Borough Council has agreed to grant planning permission for Portsmouth Water’s Havant Thicket reservoir and a pipeline to carry water to it from surplus at Bedhampton Springs in winter.

Councillors gave the green light at the local authority’s planning committee on June 3.

Portsmouth’s planning application also needs to be considered by East Hampshire District Council, as half the proposed reservoir site sits within its boundaries. This is expected to happen next month.

If approved, final legal commitments for the reservoir scheme would be agreed with the local authorities and full permission could be granted by early summer.
