Portsmouth to begin construction work for Havant Thicket

Portsmouth Water has confirmed it will begin work on the construction of its new Havant Thicket Reservoir this month, now full, formal planning permission has been secured.

The first stage of work will involve tree removal activities. These will start in October 2021 with the potential to continue into November, depending on weather conditions. Portsmouth emphasised it will carry out all tasks in “as environmentally a sensitive way as possible”, including by avoiding bird nesting season, relocating trees where possible, protecting wildlife and compensating for the loss of ancient woodland by planting 200 hectares of new woodland locally.
