Portsmouth secures planning for Havant Thicket pipelines

Havant Borough Council has granted planning permission for two pipelines needed to service the Havant Thicket Reservoir being built by Portsmouth Water to supply Southern Water.
One line will be used to transport surplus spring water from Bedhampton to the Havant Thicket Reservoir so it can be stored. The second pipeline will enable water to be drawn out again, when it’s needed to supply customers.
The approval is only for spring water transportation; if in future the pipes were to be used to transport purified recycled water under Southern Water’s Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project plan, further approvals would be needed.
