Policy expert takes up director post at South Staffs Water

South Staffordshire Water has appointed Professor Ian Barker as a board director.

Barker (pictured) is an expert in water and environmental policy. He is founder and managing director of independent consultancy Water Policy International. Among his other current roles, Barker is vice president, environment, at the Institute of Water; a director of the Water Industry Forum; and an expert advisor on water governance and regulation to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Chair of South Staffs Water, Lord Chris Smith, commented: “Ian brings huge experience and knowledge of the water sector, and a passion for the health of the environment, to his new board position; and South Staffs and our customers will derive enormous benefit as a result.”
