The House of Commons has formally appointed 13 MPs to form the next Environmental Audit Committee.
Toby Perkins MP was elected as chair of the Environmental Audit Committee by all members of the House of Commons on 11 September. He takes up his post at the committee’s first meeting.
Nominees put forward by political parties and agreed by the Committee of Selection were sanctioned in the House of Commons (see table). Party seat allocations to committees is generally proportionate to the number of MPs elected to the House of Commons at the general election, with the precise number negotiated between the party whips through the Committee of Selection. Each political party has its own internal processes for naming its nominations for committees.
