Over the next three months, Ofwat and PwC will be carrying out a review of water companies’ progress on open data. The regulator said it will use the findings to inform its decisions on next steps to be taken early in the new year.
This follows its publication in October 2021 of H2Open, a discussion paper promoting open data in the water sector. Ofwat explained that it is keen to understand the progress that companies have made in the last 12 months, individually and collectively, and is actively seeking external views until 16 December on the following questions:
• what data should companies make available openly;
• what would be the benefits;
• what progress you think companies have made on open data; and
• what challenges and opportunities do you see in opening up more data?
